Be healthy… & get your skin checked.

Happy New Year! I hope your 2024 is off to a great start. I’m back on the blog with an important message.

Back in October 2023, I went to my annual dermatologist appointment to get my skin checked. There was a mole on the back of my arm that was raised and it hurt. The doctor didn’t think it looked bad but since it was new and it hurt, he wanted to remove it. Fast forward to the end of November and I received a call saying that the biopsy results were concerning. They were going to refer me to a specialist. & a few days into the new year, I went to the specialist to have more of the area removed. After the nurse numbed the area, I started sweating but also felt cold, the lights started to flash, my stomach was in a knot, and I was tired. These are all the signs that I was going to pass out. The nurse and doctor gave me a second so I could drink some water and regain my composure before they started cutting. The doctor said his part would take fifteen minutes and that felt like the longest fifteen minutes of my life. Long story short, I survived and now I have a 5 inch wound across the back of my arm.

Growing up in Florida and being fair skinned, it is crucial for me to see the dermatologist at least once a year. & now I am encouraging you to do the same. Thankfully, I do not have skin cancer, but the cells were merely abnormal. Abnormal cells can develop into cancer. I went to the doctor just in time and spoke up.

In 2024, get your skin checked! & protect your body from the sun.

Be healthy,

Molly
