New title: Coach

The 2024-2025 school year has been all about getting out of my comfort zone and embracing change. New job, new responsibilities. & a new title: Coach. In October, I formed a team of 11 students and every Tuesday we practice math puzzles. When I see my students in the hallways on the other days, I ask if they solved the daily Set puzzle online. One of my Coach principles (& in life) is: I won’t ask you to do something that I won’t do myself. So every morning when my alarm goes off, I solve the daily puzzle. Now, these aren’t your normal math puzzles. They require logical reasoning and critical thinking. Yesterday, my 11 math club students competed in the Cadre Challenge. Two teams advance. & we did it! So now we get back to work and refine our skills. Our Super Bowl is at the end of April.

Last weekend, I was in Gainesville visiting my parents. When I walked in the door Sunday night, I said to J: this is the week! Every morning, on my way to work, I talked to my Dad about the math puzzles. The anticipation leading up to February 1st was real. Both J and my parents kept reassuring me that the work was done and we were going to do well. When I came home from work Thursday afternoon, I found this:

Jermaine Lamar knows the way to my heart! He makes all life moments SO special. (One of my fav things about my childhood is how my parents made life moments so special and memorable. I’m thankful I married an amazing human that also celebrates and makes life magical.)

So now there are two Coaches in the Lamar home: Coach J (run coach) and Coach Lamar (math coach). #TeamLamar (& if you know my husband, you know he is competitive. before he dated me, he analyzed my classroom data. if you can’t produce results, then you can’t be a Lamar.)

Peace & Love,

Molly
