Hosting: Galentine’s

Over winter break, I went to dinner with my girlfriends. We started talking about Galentine’s & I have always wanted to host a Favorite Things party, so the idea was born: a Galentine’s Favorite Things party.

The next day, I was on Baublebar ordering initial necklaces, making an invite, and an insert with the rules. We chose a $15 limit and that each girl would bring their favorite thing for all of the girls invited. Then, it was time to head to Hobby Lobby, Joann Fabrics, Target, The Dollar Tree (even though it should really be called the $1.25 Store now- that’s for you Mom and Dad) and Cooper’s Hawk Winery. I started sprinkling bows throughout our home- on the pendant lights, candle sticks, garlands, etc. I knew the weeks leading up to Galentine’s would be busy with work, so it was best to start prepping the house little by little.

The morning of Galentine’s, my school was participating in the School Spirit Run at SeaWorld, so I was up at 5:30 AM ready to power walk 3 miles. Thankfully, Dunkin Donuts was at the finish line, so I had a ice coffee (three pumps of caramel syrup, two creams, and 1 sugar) and 3 donut holes. Now, I was energized to go to Trader Joe’s and pick up some beautiful blooms.

Roses, of course, because its Valentine’s!

Daisies are my fav flower. When I was in preschool, my Dad bought me a daisy bracelet from Claire’s for my birthday. & he gave me another daisy bracelet on my wedding day! So daisies are a special thing between me and my Dad.

Baby’s breath is just sweet and dainty.

& eucalyptus because it smells delightful, and I love greenery.

Of course, there is a small nod to Paris in the Lamar home for Valentine’s Day.

Yes, that is a pink tablecloth that I tied into a bow. All the heart eyes!

I used my Grandma Muth’s punch bowl for the wine. My grandmother loved all things girly- hearts, flowers, butterflies, and of course, purses.

Jermaine went to the grocery store to pick up ice cream and chocolate sauce. (to be served with the pizookie I made for dessert!) & he came home with this beautiful bouquet and asked me to be his Valentine. He is the sweetest and always pursues me.

My girlfriend Danette made this stunning charcuterie board: salami rose, heart shaped strawberries and cheese, cookies spelling the word LOVE, heart shaped ramekins, etc. It was SO delicious!!

A few roses fell off the stems as I was making arrangements so I made ice cubes out of them!

& Galentine’s was a success!

Get your girlfriends together and celebrate friendship! Remember to love your girls hard because when life gets hard, your girls will always be there.

Peace & Love,

Molly
