A New Chapter

Last Sunday, I got up at 5:oo AM to meet a friend for a run and when I turned on my car, a battery light was on. After a quick Google search, it looked like it could be the alternator. I woke up Jermaine, he threw on some clothes to take me to run, and he said we would investigate the issue later. This was the final nudge from God that I needed.

Let’s rewind for a second. One time on my way back to Orlando, lights came on in the car and it was jerking when I accelerated. To be safe, I pulled off the turnpike and AAA towed it home. Another time, the air conditioning went out (for the second time) and we talked about buying a new car. This was during the pandemic though and the lots were sparse. Recently, the air seemed a little warm and I was just waiting for something else. In a way, I felt like buying a new car meant I was giving up on this one. If you know me well, you know that I am very sentimental.

On Monday, I researched my options. I read articles and watched numerous YouTube videos. I narrowed my search down to the CR-V and the HR-V, but ultimately determined that I wanted another CR-V. On Tuesday, we got up, exercised (I biked/ J ran), showered, and got ready to tackle car shopping. First, we went to the bank to talk rates and then headed to the dealership. We walk in and Bob Marley is blasting out of the speakers. I think: these are my kind of people. Another positive- the lot was overflowing with cars. They bring one CR-V to the front for us to look at. Now, remember I had done extensive research, so I knew the exact one I was looking for. This one was not it. But when it comes to car buying, you play the game. He asked if we wanted to walk the four rows and look at them. I said: YES! So here we are in the blazing sun looking at cars. I will never understand how some people enjoy car shopping or enjoy buying new cars frequently. (Why? 1. Car payments are expensive! & 2. THIS is not a process that I enjoy or want to have to endure often.) Jermaine finds the ONE- solar silver metallic exterior, dark interior, black alloy wheels, sport hybrid, but most of all: all weather mats and the trunk tray. It’s the little things!

We head inside with the salesman to get the key. Well we quickly learned the key system was down so he had to sift through HUNDREDS of keys to find both keys, Of course, they were not together. After what seemed like a century, he tabled the key search and suggested we start crunching numbers.

End of the story: we bought the car without test driving it, turning it on, or even sitting inside of it. (OR even turning on the air conditioner to see if it worked- my Dad never thought my first CR-V had super cold air) In life, I always take the road less traveled, and this was no different.

We arrived at the dealership around 11:30 and we left around 5:00. It was time to head home, eat dinner, and decompress after a long day. We headed back the next day to bring them my vintage 2008 CR-V and pick up the new whip.

Without further ado, meet The Silver Fox. She’s a beauty.

Peace & Love,

Molly
