SO many memories come to mind when I think of my 2008 Honda CR-V.

First, let’s go back to the beginning- May 2008 (the summer before my senior year of high school). My Dad and I went to Jeep, Toyota, and Honda. At Jeep, we looked at the Liberty, at Toyota we looked at the Rav 4, and at Honda we looked at the CR-V. Ultimately, we went with Honda because our late neighbor Nick did extensive research and told my parents that the CR-V was the safest. So around Memorial Day weekend, we went and bought a blue Honda CR-V. I wanted blue because my brother had a competition orange Mustang. The Muth kids had orange and blue cars in the driveway. Go Gators!
This car took me to high school my senior year. It held practice clothes for dance and pottery from ceramics class. It took me to football games. & it taught me a hard lesson. I didn’t park where my parents had told me to park at Citizens Field and I backed into a car. (BAD. Very bad!) It took me to UF- undergrad and grad school. It transported meals that I had helped prepare through Campus Kitchens to after school programs in underprivileged neighborhoods. It transported a dog cage to make a statement when we had to raise money for an animal shelter as a part of my marketing class (hence the scratched window tint by the trunk). It got dented by a Jimmy Johns delivery guy. (side story: the guy ran into the side of my car after he plowed through an intersection on his bike on his way to deliver a sub near university.) It picked up friends when they came home from college and we would go to breakfast at Ivy’s. It took me to UF sporting events so I could volunteer with the athletic association’s marketing department. It picked up other friends for dinner, dancing, and concerts.
Then, my parents put the title in my name as I spread my wings. It hauled all my beloved possessions as I moved from Gainesville to Orlando to start my first year of teaching. It allowed me to go home once a month to spend time with my parents. It took Ella to the vet to see if she had a microchip after we found her. It brought Oliver home from my parents’ house in Gainesville to Orlando. It helped Jermaine and I move from my apartment to our new home.

This car held me during the darkest times when I was lonely in Orlando, surviving my first year of teaching, and on top of that my first year living on my own. It held me in my happiest times as I would meet my husband, plan a wedding, and start our life together. If there is one word that would describe the Honda CR-V, it is reliable.
I can’t end a post about this car without a big thank you. Now that I have a car payment (which I have blessed to never have), I have a new found appreciation for my parents.
Thank you Mom and Dad for your selfless love. You have sacrificed SO, so much in order to provide Trevor and I with the best life: a loving home, a private school education, memorable vacations, lots of Disney trips, new cars, a Florida pre-paid college education, and furnished apartments. Now that I am an adult and working, I understand how much hard work goes into a full-time job and to earn a paycheck. For you to pour your hard-earned money into us, means the world. You have always put Trevor and I before yourselves. & for that I am SO thankful!
My blue Honda CR-V- thank you for 16 beautiful years! Thank you for the amazing memories.
Peace & Love,
Molly
